Held To Heart

18 February 2006

It was that summer day in ‘Sixty Three’
when I was so young to know
Then I was not old enough to remember
that day our eyes did the first time meet

Until another time not so long back
how it was true in knowledge gained
Across a world of tears born
then you kissed me upon a virtual cheek

Oh how time has moved again
from that day in March unto now
Soon it will be one year in your name to greet
and much would have been written to read

Of a book of dreams to desire
a passion of poems to stanza and verse
Those kisses of a distant destination
maybe next time our lips do meet

“And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted,
whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, . . .”
Exodus 28: 3 KJV

a poet who cares
