A house is burning
The old gods are watching

There is much laughter
Pluto has wagered Vulcan

Already bored
And cloyed with ambrosia
Others are eyeing
New victims for their passions

A roof crackles
The temperature rises

All this time
Alone and frightened
A child is waiting

Hoping that someone
With crudely bad manners
Indifferent to script
The esthetics of theater

Will rush inside into the scene
And with sacrilegious humanity

End
The play

John....Do you know the children's song, "Do You Know the Muffine Man"? In the song, the muffin man lives on Drury Lane. Interesting coincidence?
