WHO KNOWS BEST,BUT ME?

I'm getting off my sleeping pills.
They aren't what I need to be
I'm taking my heart medicine
To put pressure, where it should be.

I feel my heart a'pumpin'
And Iguess that's good
But, if it decides to stop
I hope it does it for good.

I don't want to miss a "stroke"
Have them say, that's what I had
I can't lay there paralysed
Either, one side, is just as bad!

If there's one could take care of me
Then, I'd guess I'd found a fool
I've saved me up a lot of meds
They could be a very usefull tool.

So, if you may find me looking
Into your eyes that just don't see
Just remember what I ask,
"Will you please take care of me?"

Don't let me lay and suffer
Because you think that it's not right
Please give me the honor
To admit, I've lost the fight.

It's not your place to judge
If you're not there to see
How can you say, "I know!"
Where I would want to be.

So, when my time may come
Too soon, or if too late
Please honor me and let me go
When, I know it's my fate.

Abe, this brought a huge hunk of
the right to choose, and the right
we need to adopt, at time, to let
our loved ones know it is "ok" to
let go.

Strong people get into the life-long
attitude and impulse to "be all" for
their own loved ones, to be forever
strong, to be forever "here".  The
inner fight that is mind over matter
when matter has deteriorated so far that
all that is left is a skeleton, and a
will's desire...

sometimes we need to say, "please know
we will be all right...it's ok, to
let go."

I know, and while I commend people to
give it their best shot and to NOT give up
if they can be as whole as possible, in
body and mind...

but we must also remember to allow our
own beloveds that it is "ok" to let go,
in quiet dignity, and be gracious in
the acceptance.

I know you are not condoning any way out
other than the most natural of ways...by
living life as well as you can, and going
out as graciously as one can...but I do agree
with you, that some of us, when it is our
time, will know best, and our family, and
friends, need to listen, understand, and be
willing to say, "go in peace."

Thank you for this.
