~*~

My man of many muses.
You are the flutter of sleepy eyes
and sheets of light filtering through the blinds.
The quiet rhythm and routine
I've grown accustom to.

I think of you as a foreign tongue
that I can't comprehend.
Your voice drifts in and out of my dreams
leaving me lucid.
Like the restless sea
moaning and motionless.

In my slumber I built walls,
then tore them down in my desire to be near you.
Clinging like a heavy mist that lingers
only to lift before our time.
It is through those passages
where I retreat and weep.

Yet you remain, the title to my love song
a melody without words
floating down a steady stream,
that takes me closer to the edge.
Bending in a field of lavender and wildflowers,
romancing the wreckless wind.

But as human nature would have it
we lost momentum along the way.
I watched you parade across the room
and light it up with sparks flying.
An after thought that would be me,
I turned away.

I kept what was mine for the taking
carving a place in my heart for you.
My forever keepsake
and moments to treasure.
Oh, how you move me.

As a piano player plays,
I remember the way your hands reached out.
With care, you hit the notes and held the keys
sweeping me off my feet,
above and beyond the constellation of stars.

My darling heart,
you play me like I've never been played.

This.....simply a joy to read. Would be if I didn't know you, didn't care....but I do know, and that makes it so much more.

Beautiful

Heartwarming

Breathtaking

Many other words come to mind but very few of them can truly capture the essence of your poem

You really touched me with this one.  Like I told Daark, everyone should have a lovesong...you and your piano man obviously compose your own!  I loved this! ... and yes, such sweet sentiment makes me blink back tears.    Wonderful  poem!

sometimes being 'played' can be a good thing.... enjoyed much lori...

And so it those we live with

we can love completely

I've not been able to post for a bit, but what a treat to find this warm and lovely piece which so ably expresses our feelings at such moments.  Well done!  Ken

Yanno, this has always been my favorite kind of Bluesy write.  I hope you know what I mean by that.      Wistful, melancholy and phrased perfectly.
Good to read you again Lori...
