Attack

when a poem attacks
at six in the morning
and demands to be written
           …I think of you

hands forget what they were doing
itch for pen and paper
           … and I am a dying leaf

storms of words buzz my head
aching me
           ...clinging to a dream twig

fuzzy eyes
seek anything
I might recognize
             …I tremble

coffee gurgles into the pot
smelling of possible scraps of sanity
…waiting for a careless spring breeze

foot trips
poem screams
WRITE ME
            …to float me

cat cries
FEED ME
           …where I can rest

poem consumes me

I think we are living in the same place. A place where sleep is a luxury not to be had, lol. I really like this; it captures a poet's real feelings at the darker hours of the day. There's nothing fruity in it to slow me down or take away from the effect. But then again, nothing you do is fruity. It is pure realism; I love that. Cheers   - Ed

A true poet you are...when the words burn to be written and you are up to your elbows in something else!  I always get inspired when I'm driving.  By the time I get a moment, the muse is off in a corner laughing at me.  I really liked this.
