“That Sacred Feeling”

Eyelids moistly peel back
The world comes into your brain
drawing you up from the blackened depths of sleep, from those warm, and cherished things called dreams.
Your feet touch the floor.
Carpet fibers curl like sand beneath your sifting toes.
You stare at the widow, as life reorients, and reasserts itself.
Never can you have recalled a more blissful slumber, safe perhaps that time Death offered you a taste of "what it's like".
You tilt your head.
Your fingers test themselves out, for another day's trials.
Your morning eyes stare purposefully not at the room about you, but at things unseen.
Dreams recede, and in their wake your soul nuzzles up against secret, hidden desires.
For those first eternal heartbeats, nothing really matters
You know who you are
what you are
where you belong
and to whom
The world is as it should be
for you are happy
content
Everything makes sense
for now...
