the old ones weave their fingers
into baskets of pray songs
and bend the brittle sticks
of their knees into the earth

they offer silver to the medicine fires
from their heads of white wire
as they wear the coats of tears
worn by their journey men fathers

tree people gather their bows
and let fly their arrows of wind
into the snow vales soft bellys
to turn their shadows into dancing

she drinks from those waters
when the rainbows are hard stones
that swim with oil on their skin
upstream into the hiding furrows

she is free from her men
and runs with her hair down
when she turns her back on the meadows
and gives her song to the mountains

it is then when she is, when she is she

"she is free from her men

when she turns her back on the meadows
and gives her song to the mountains

it is then when she is, when she is she"

There is nothing more beautiful then a woman that raditates on her own...so that she becomes blinding with another..

Loved it, Mr. D.

Darling D, I don't think strident is the right word....I like an independent, strong woman that knows when to speak up...

She needn't be loud or obtrusive in her nature..

She just needs to know her battles and how to convince the most fanatic of opposers to join her.

suzieC..as you wish lady friend, was considering more of the "vehement" version of the term...they are the strident ones I admire..the passionate ones...as this winter woman is with her storming

She gives her song to the mountains...aspiring thoughts.  I can see her hair cascading, soft and free, like ropes undone.

This reminds me so much of one of JM's beautiful photos--her spirit transcends the lens, and I may be wrong about the source of your inspire, but I know that you know what I know--er, I think. ?

I do adore this gentle side of you D.
