Come join me when I roam my land
Just step into my door
I'll give you coffee first and cake
And home made wine and more

Then out we go to follow the road
That leads through pastures green
And you will see the light blue flax
Like swirling seas you've never seen

Around the corner we'll stop by
The border of an old creek
Between the reed we're spotting birds
From soggy soil our boots will squeak

This land was sea, long time ago
Until they put some dykes around
On top of them you'll find tall trees
Their crowns will make a rustling sound

Then I'll take you to the dyke
Where my rare sheep are grazing
I'll hear you grasp your breath, because
The view from there is just amazing

Wide open country, where ever you look
With dykes, around sowed corn and grain
In Summer green and colourful
In Winter snow-white or muddy by rain

If lucky, we'll see some hares hopping by
Or polliwogs playing in ditches
Hog weed is growing ever so tall
Don't touch it though, it itches

On our way we'll pick some flowers
Growing wildly along the verge
Buttercups, spearmint and cow parsley,
Blue clover, wild roses will beautifully merge

When we come home, we'll sit in front
To watch the sun go down
Displaying a pallet of colours unknown
From yellow to purple and orange to brown

In the twilight the bats will be flying
And owls will let you hear their special sound
While birds are singing their lullaby's
You'll know: 'This is the most serene place I've found'

Titia~
My friend, it is SO GOOD to see you and your beautiful work~

Truly wishing it could be ... I'd love to sit there and watch the sunset with you~

Went to the Sanford Marina the other night, where you stayed when we *HUG-TIPPED* the man for helping us with your luggage, ... just night-clubbing and dining~

Stood and watched the very sunset that you enjoyed when you were here and thought of the wonderful memories we wrote during that visit~

Miss ya' gal~

Ah, Dutchie, you paint a beautiful picture of your country with your words. I have little doubt it is as serene and peaceful as you portray it to be....and one of t he things that makes it so special is that it has YOU in it!

Hello Titia ... an incredible collage of your homeland. Your words describe a setting that many will never get to see. Thank you for allowing us to 'see' into your world.

Sending you and muys a hug.

Maureen, they're just little bats, they won't hurt you LOL

Chris, thanks and hugs to you too.

Marge, miss you too dear, the Sanford Marina was a beautiful place to watch sunset and sunrise, we had some great laughs there

Balladeer, you always know how to make a lady blush. I even miss you dear pal

The Lady, thanks and you're welcome.

Sharon, now that was a surprise you'll speak Dutch in no time dear lady

Marti, a city has beauty too, as long as I don't have to live in it LOL, too crowded for me.

Leej, just let me know which flight and I'll come and get you

Thank you all for joining me.

Loved this! Reminded me of how things should be instead of the constant sounds of the motorway.

I'm booking my ticket
where lamb and sheep
in sunsets and thickets
roam hillsides deep

where wine is served
with laughter and cheer,
where a poet's at home
when Titia is near.

Hi... you wrote such vivid images of a lovely place!  So idyllic.  The pictures are beautiful as well and they make me think of the area where I grew up with the windbreak trees and checkerboard farmlands.  I don't remember flowers much, though  except in the mountains, only sagebrush!  I enjoyed this very much!
