Beyond the tracks of life a tunnel lies,
surrounded by might and granite scree,
by the toils of man to breach a slender
cold stone hole.

Within, the smoke gently laps the tips
of carved lifeless sinew, awaiting the
thrust of a heartless engine, approaching
life’s turmoil, gently fanning the swirl
of coal air...attempting to see the light
that all promise waits.

If so, might this heart not race against
uncertain times.  Fearful of that which
lies unseen ahead as now, in wait,
the might gathers within the soul.
Drawing a blade from ragged leather,
allowing the glint of steel to waiver
slightly against the warring winds
that hold against the tide.

Soon shall come the banner’s flight
in breeze.  Soon shall be born again
the warrior’ cries...and when the
bloods lie cold amongst the trail of
lain steel....one shall emerge, tall,
proud....victorious till the smokes
gather again at tunnel’s end and mask
the light of promise once more.

Barry, I loved this, this was magnificant
gave the reader a feeling of fragility, yet, knowing by our choice we can become strong willed in life...doing what is best for others, in the same, ourselves...
