Sun Overhead
[Konrad and The Meeting]

Dreams still came hard, migraines or not,
some were shadowed, some grayness seeping,
but this was different, a counter lock in step and time,

faint ticking tock of some carefully wound clock
as if Gump had been present, who would
have been the one holding the guitar, but there
Fagin sat, comfortable, strumming, humming, tuning
in and out, for the just right key…

Konrad felt needed, required, waited for…
as if hurdling some mountain, his back unbroken,
he felt…he would like this bard…
and wolves came to mind.

“Heard yer howlin’, man…come, sit your stance.”
Deep, rasping baritone keyed Konrad into
obeying this dream and its escape, so he sat,
seeing visions change underneath fingertips
as grass became keyboard, when wind changed tune,
there sat Fagin, strumming, hummin’,
“pick it up, boy” and Konnie plunked out a tune,

he, who had played briefly in his life,
fell into sync in sine
straight into the tempo clear, rare
among the family peers…

They played as if June had tuned her harp, then let
July take its merry swing; they played as if August had
beat its heat into some whirlpooled stream;
they took toll against all the odds, swept time itself
into a beat, when tick met tock, and then they rocked,
with blues becoming a majestic thing, as piano keys
came keys of horn, and oh how Konrad played…
Fagin in tune with the water’s stream of patient, waiting prey…

When wolves began a’howling, Konrad woke to sharp,
his fingers shaking, in tired hope of some feel true,
in meeting a man he would never meet,
but, oh God, how he would linger
and in his soul, knew finally of one he wished to keep.

I too, wish to have met this my brother!

Very nice, I love the wolf picture.

he, who had played briefly in his life,
fell into sync in sine
straight into the tempo clear, rare
among the family peers…

That is great. Cheers   - Ed

knowing now what I know...this poem says
much about a man,  who he was and who all
he affected in his life...particularly a
woman whose own blood flowed his veins.

dearest poet, this was hauntingly beautiful, in a sad sort of way, but also gave me another feeling of goodness, understanding...

and this...

faint ticking tock of some carefully wound clock
as if Gump had been present, who would
have been the one holding the guitar, but there
Fagin sat, comfortable, strumming, humming, tuning

this gave me chills, ones of mystical, spiritual...

amazing...YOU!

I'm glad that Konrad is back and so glad to find him here sharing your awareness of Fagin.

Listening to every heart

It is true, that words, especially those written, from said, or known, live on.

I was reminded of this today, when one person spoke of another, long gone some 18 years now...relating the fact that the "words" came through yet another voice...

what I am saying, in my long-winded way, is that, what we do say, whether written down, or reverberated through mind for years to come, does reflect back on what we thought, how we acted, what we do.

My brother had a very short time with those of you who came to know him, through his words, here at PiP.

Oh, he did enjoy Konrad's escapades.  He wondered how I could put myself in a man's mind...even if only on one or two levels...still, he enjoyed where Kon was going.

On that level, Konrad is enjoying Fagin's music, Sustaniac's soul, and Robert's goodness.

If you look to the skies tonight, know that the sound you might hear, is a heart in motion.

Thank you all, for taking time to read deeply.
