I'm tired of this sorry town !
Tired of all these people.
All they do is, bring me down.
So tonight, I'm making tracks...
Everyone I've come upon...
Is conniving and deceitful.
Got to turn myself around,
And get the knives out of my back.
The time that I've spent here... Was just a waste of time.
But now the choice is clear... To move on down the line...
Or lose my mind.
Before I lose my Mind !

Just a stop along a side road.
Just a waste of time.
Just a place to load and unload.
Just another rhyme.

The moss grows on the north side
And the sun sets in the West.
I spit, and hold my finger to the wind.
I can't take no more lies !
This must have been a test.
The actual thing would have never had to end.
But baby, You've got your way...
And I've got four or five.
And no part of me can see how your way is right.
Don't you worry about me girl ;
I've learned to survive.
I can turn it off... Like you turn off a light.

Just a stop along a side road.
You were just a waste of time.
Just a place to load and unload.
Just another rhyme.

And you...  You smiled and called me "Brother"
While I lent a helping hand.
But when I cried out...  My voice fell on deaf ears.
"Well man,  Ya know... its just that...
"Well... I'm sure you understand"
Oh Yes !  I do    You've made it all so clear.
I used to keep a quarter, in the sweatband of my hat...
To call old friends... If I should hit hard times.
But, old friends aint been proving true...
And today, a quarter won't get you through...
But I'll waste no more, on these two-bit friends of mine.

Just a stop along a side road.
They were just a waste of time.
Just a place to load and unload.
Just another rhyme.

Now, I'm cruisin' down the highway...
No destination in my mind.
Just following the path of my low beams.
It may not be the right way...
But it feels good at the time.
The rear-view mirror only shows bad dreams
I spit, and hold my finger up to you and all my friends.
Be thankful that I never snapped and I've learned how to bend.
Dont fret about the damage done...  Its going to be alright.
I've learned how to turn it off...
Like you turn off a light.

Well, I've heard people talk about "Love" and "Loyalty"
About Unicorns and Mermaids in the sea.
Now, I've had to bid farewell to Fairy tales ;
And make myself believe...
That I wouldn't let it get the best of me.

Just a stop along a side road.
It was just a waste of time.
Just a place to load and unload.
Just another rhyme.

Larry, sometimes the unloading
needs a pile of work to put it
off the street.  But this?  This
didn't take all that much time at all.

In fact, I rather enjoyed
reading the angst.

Good job.

and man, it really does take
more than a quarter

but yanno somethin?
I think I remember a time
when it was just a dime!

I'm reminded of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice when I read this.  Yes....I can hear a song hear, too.

If that highway brings you this away Uriah, be sure and stop on in. Maybe we can share a laugh about our two bit friends. :-)
