You place me there,
on the back burner
along with all of the other things

that you can "get to later"

or, even
are less important to you
than this hurryupandwait
schedule that you abuse

and, yeah I know that someday
when you're bored, you'll finally look
until you can find all of those things
that you took

and carelessly tossed aside;

forgotten items placed there
to reside until one day
when you realize

that you forgot to turn
the burner down
and before we
had a chance to simmer

       you burned our love
           to the ground

and left nothing more
than this scorched love

remembered only in
       charred remains
                of yesterday.

I like the price you pay to keep passion on solid ground....
if it ain't about thunder and lightning it just ain't worthwhile
oh no, it just ain't my style....{Toby Keith}

Sad, sad, sad...
However, very well written.

Aching and angry on your behalf.  This is very sad, but so well-penned (as always!).

This is wonderful, Gentle Spirit.  However, I put things on the back burner because I need to clear the way to give them my full attention!
Just a thought.  I do not disagree with your theme. I would just want to avoid getting burned.  Thought provoking poem as you can well see.  Loved it!
