It was the trees that whispered softly of the truth
As I sat quietly beneath the shadows of the blazing fire
Anticipating fear while my Pa told his stories

In the distance the chirping of cricket legs
Sung sweetly, not to disturb the night but to entice it
In hopes their orchestra would be complete

Our tent, fit for two, sat gaping in awe waiting to be fed by our bodies
While sleep comforted me with slow yawns

Tomorrow Pa will take me fishing
Real simple the Southern way, Jig and line
You just might catch something
