Wind … & … Whist’lins

Weeping willows held strong, quick pungent pine
which deemed to decorate Waller Park
sharing space with its bluing, ensuing skies,
and all its ponds were fishin’ holes … allowed,
semi-stocked, they were, for you and me, …our
wishing poles glinting in sun’s light…

Dad brought a song along with that old Dobro,
steel bowl ’n’ strings enhancing its tattoo
(later gifted to you, then to me by love…)
to strum, those old one-some, winsome harmonies…
and I ache in this loss of late learning…yearning
for more that is gone, but for these memories.

Family gatherings ‘round tritip roasts,
barbi-que’d chicken thighs and wings,
then yet…I wandered up into that sky,
with its winds … and whist’lins…
then lookin’ down, I saw that love
in pinpoint glint of bright

which started this whole gather’n’in
harvesting heart these many scenes
of those glowing, glinting heads of light…

Oh, God, that park was beautiful,
all this family so limbed in bliss,
with summer sun a’shining strong
as parents and grands would kiss
those babies ripe of plum and feast,
then as tired smiles would sigh,

knowing we were blessed,
this what of then, were you,
and thus, were I,
oh my love…that we were blood,
beneath that summer sky.

T’was then that some wind’n whistles would call
to come circling ’round our kin
when singing rosied up through some air,
lifting gurgling, shifting untroubled bubbles,
that song to circle us, within.

Sissie

and thus, were I,
oh my love…that we were blood,
beneath that summer sky."

Yes, you were blessed with love and still are, with love and memories of those times.

Martie, the memories sustain...

and Michele...it was a long, song time ago...

but you know, it could be, again...
if we all worked at it...

so am sending hugs...and a bit of work-a'tude....

Oh, Karilea, this is wonderful. I left this poem with my heart and soul feeling full. Not many poems make me feel that way. Thank you for everything.   - Ed

Thank you, Ed.  God has blessed me with only good memories of my family...oh, there are some days I remember the moments of a few irking thoughts lingering, but then didn't everyone have a day or two like that? Better to share the sunlight of the good ones...

thank you for reading.
