The days are drowning
The red sinking
Beneath the endless current
Down behind the blue

The thoughts have fallen
To start a gaping chasm
A collection of winter leaves
They fall, caught in the web swinging

Rest for the weary
A nameless division from the open
A closed off meaning
Speaking through the breeze

Can you hear the trees swaying?
The water rushes on heedless
To join in the ending
A headlong topple over the end of the world

~Vancouver 12/2003.. Heading home late one night, remembering the light fleeing
