Be My Valentine
By Paul Wilson

With a shy look covering his face
he asked the question on his mind
Would you please give me a chance
wooooould you be my... my valentine

I’ve admired you from afar
since we first met it seems
I think about you everyday
I see you each night in my dreams

Afraid of the answer he turned
away with his head hung low
Just to share his heart with another
is all he ever wanted…you know

Wait don’t go she softly said to him
I’d really love to be your valentine today
You would he shouted…really
yes she said that would be okay

I’ll buy you some roses and candy
just give me a minute or two
I’ll even write you a poem today
cause mommy I love you

I’m so glad you're my Valentine mommy
cause you’re the apple of my eye
I really want to thank you
from the bottom of my heart

But

Mommy please don’t cry

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~
Paul

I remember a little boy who gave me a  butterfly he had made at school.  To him, it was not good enough for me.  To me, it is a forever treasure. Now 26 years later, he is still my Valentine, and he still does not understand it is forever!

Thank you for this reminder of the bond between mothers and sons.  I must call him.
Sweet sentiment for a special day, that reminds me we have valentines in our lives every day.

Beautiful Paul. You've captured it! I have one of those little fellows too... all grown up now and... mothers always cry.

I got my "usual" valentine card from my son today, wherein he always puts the same thing he has for over 25 years now.  I will never get tired of reading it either, and have saved them all in a book.  They always read,  "To The First Woman I Ever Loved On Valentine's Day, With Love From Your Son," and each year I still laugh and cry.

Your poem was just sent to him and I know he will smile reading it.  Happy Valentine's Day Paul (Lyra would have loved this one.)

This certainly brought tears to this mom's eyes Paul. Oh, how I remember those days when my sons ( now 23 1/2 and 22) were that young and eager to please Thanks for the reminder of life's fraility
