Duty was written by me as one of these things when I moved my mind out my "etc" and it was thinking ahead since I am not in politics.

It came from Boy Soldier but also the Microsoft early you can fly into the "Empire Building" stuff.

Bush and Blair became the ones on the hill who would be grand and this applies to North Korea and Iran and everyone else.

The question I ask them is this "How far from Reality are You" and can you take a long "lunch break, while we get on with life"

Boy Soldier I will put underneath 'Duty'

Duty was originally written at 03.41 19/12/1999.

Dave

                      Duty

On a mountain side I sing
To the trees I would bring
Wind to drift their gentle boughs
To wave for me
In my lonely tower
Looking far into the life
That governs this country free of life
That pities the wind that freezes the soul
That consumes us all naked and whole
Looking far into my life
Stark staring wind is my knife
Plunging into my heart break
Wind my friend
I am yours to take

I raise my eyes to your shadow
The sun threads between your thoughts
I let the grey enveloped me
I have no retort
I watch the trees waved
To give you, your servant dear
I watch the darkness in the valley
Move to the cherised symbol there
As we agreed
You sacrifice
All you hold so dear
And I will shortly join you
Facing my own fear

They look aloft and never see below
Unless it pleases them
They are the lofty folk
The world dreams of them
I wait here with the rest
Knowing I will die
They will die magnificently
I bye and bye
People will remember them
For their sacrifice
The towers burnt in flames of smoke
Their bodies billowing high
I will die with these men
Who will curse as they kill
That they who want their loved ones
Should be fodder for the mill
We will die for ignorance
For the land that could
But will wait
Until alone they stood
In their confidence
The world can not touch them
In reality
Dominate a few
Tortue a few
Frighten many
Put militia against trained men
Put the cock against the hen
And I will die
To hold a force that tries
To dominate the world
Without my dying words heard

I will call to the wind that makes a mountain fair
I will see my thoughts echo
I see you standing there
Storms above challenge my regard
Dancing on my soul
Raining through the shard
I call to the wind
Explosive as it flows
Carry my wish
As far as you can go

Dave

29/01/1998 version

And Bloody Heroes Too

My face is in the earth
My feet are digging to
The sky is flashing light
My stomach flashes too

Nobody else is left
I should have gone with them
But when they went to advance
I hid behind my tomb

Now no-one has come back
But I hear the marching feet
I look at the steel at night
Can someone beat retreat

I wait for that death
Dishonourable I know
It doesn't matter how you die
It just matters how you go

I have no qualms for my coward's life
I've lived it all I could
I didn't wish to be here
I don't want to be good

I started at the bottom
With the heroes right on top
But when the killing came
They all felt they should stop

So they send us out poor souls
With all their fancy words
And told us we were heroes
And we would get what we deserved

Now we are all dead
They still breed anew
And raise their glasses up to us
And bloody heroes too.

Dave,
This truly is a very well put piece.
Enjoyed the read.
