It's not always from the North
these winged winds of pestilence
roaring underneath the eaves
in disregard of common sense
and all the weather sciences
are nonsense chiseled by the stone
as ice is formed in heavensky
to mock the steam of my July
as winter is an egg in fry
upon the concrete in my mind
while I mock my own protest
not-another-thing unless
it is the thing I've waited for
if I am even cognizant
of blessings in disguise.

I am so inadequate
the gauntlet got the best of me--
I nod, my words, they weary you.
They reek as if ingratitude
is pouring from my wounds instead
of blood and life and am-I-dead
fevering the visions of
a savior and warm fresh bread
are dreams I do not dare deny
for such it is my sustenance--
pennies of the suffering
as if I save some recompense

to buy myself a glory ride

in another life...I'd die
gladly
knowing I was done
and spared still yet
another test.

If suffering is insurance
that I could live a life with you
then mark my bruises with a bruise--
for you, I would come back again
deny myself angelic wing
I'd cut the cords that grant me sing
and silence would become my king
for just a life with you
I would
advocate a throne.

If Gods and Goddesses agree:

I do, hereby, submit decree
knowing of the consequence--
I'd bet my stack of lives as chips
like Vegas, playing craps, I would
kiss the dice
and pray for eights--
the sign of the infinity -
the only lock on Heaven's gate -
the keyhole of the balances
and say it is
oh it is so
that he is mine
and I am his
together
as we were before
we contemplated more than this--

in disregard of common sense -

let me live again with him.

If it can be

You know it will be

But I have never read such heartbreak from you, m'witch

Lovely, even so

Hugs...

(and smiley thingys)

(you know the kissy and huggy kind with hearts an' stuff popping out of them)

(but not that "dancing baby" creature)

First of all, I have to laugh at y'Yeti and the dancing baby for that thing scares me too.

And you, moreso than any of us, know the ole Doris Day creed and M'Lady . . . I don't know why some of us are given such tests, I just don't.
I can only say that with such awareness, it is a curse and a blessing.

If I could wish you a zillion lifetimes in trade for one you deserve, I would.

If I could blow my predjudices upon the sky and cause the sun to shine there, I would.

If I could wave my hand and ward off all weather and tragedy and have the sweet breeze kiss your cheeks to dry them, I surely would.

And if it were in my power to change the course of life, well, in this instance, I would.

Even if it came back to me threefold.

Your voice is never one I tire of, through you, I learn about myself.

and I am sorry for birds should not be caged and butterflies should be free to flutter and zoos bother me . . .

I seriously have to get you some Saul Williams,
" . . . said the shotgun to the head."

(meaning pointless)

Wham!
Yep, there was a reason this called to me today.  I saw yesterday and didn't have time to read in here, and today was pulled back to find this and read..

now I know why.

"in another life...I'd die
gladly
knowing I was done
and spared still yet
another test."

damn....
this hits.....

very closely to home today,
so much so that you would never believe
it...

but WHAM...

I needed to read this today K.  c'mere....

love ya sweetie

No one can tell you how to get there
it's a road you take all by yourself,
look inside and find the part
that's leading you;
that's the beat of the heart.

Frances waves...

PS does too.

Both are nodding along with me
at this signature heartbreak...

and the heavy sigh
we feel from you.

"in disregard of common sense"

how do you know?  What if it is the one thing in all this that makes the most sense?

we don't know.

I think if the draw is that strong, it was there before and you will find it again in the next.

I have to believe that.

This is going to the "Karen" library as it is my new favorite...

love ya.

Who could not love a mind that could come up with this concept? Absolutely amazing....

I've learned that common sense is neither common nor makes a lot of sense

Karen, if Valentines Day is about hearts,
I'm reading this one again Feb 14. What a soulful heartfelt bloody good write.
(Hehe, have to change some of my adjectives these days.)
Seriously though, this is probably one of your all-time-best, and that's hard to do when you crank out bests every time you push that Enter key here in cyber space.
And if there be a heaven? and if there be some kind of a gate? well, this gd non-believing no-good-gypsy-dreamer believes you've a key to SPARE...to share with another 'lost' soul.
I sure do love you, lady serenity.
And if these things happening to you is only a test? Remember those TV 'test' icons? LOL, they shall disappear some day too. Furthermore, I'd like to have a chat with whoever is handing out the testing list!

Talk about disregard... *S*

From early lines, I knew this one would leave me weeping... and I read on... and oh... I was right. *S*

But I could not stop... not when my poetry lovin' lil heart's willing to break along with yours just to read such perfection. *S*

I'm gonna have to dust off another library shelf for this one... *sneeze* *S*

I just wanted to say thanks to you all for reading, and hugs for those who understand.

Ruth? It was especially lovely to hear from you.
