A Woman of Fine Substance
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

I walk not away from mirrors,
For in them I do see,
~A woman of fine substance,
And I’m pleased that she is me!

Each line upon my aging face,
Was earned by living life,
~As a loving, caring person,
~Friend, daughter, mom, and wife.

It’s not that I am perfect,
I’m a work in progression.
~Learning from my lessons,
~Repeating no transgression.

Faith in my abilities,
Was a long time in coming.
Now I venture forth,
~ Instead of succumbing.

When I came to realize
That God loved me so,
I grew in self-worthiness
And I began to glow.

I greet each dawning day,
With faith in God ~ and me!
No matter what may come my way,
All’s well ~ eventually!

I walk not away from mirrors
For in them I do see,
~A woman of fine substance
And I’m pleased that she is me!

“We are born of star dust,
And to the stars we shall one day return.”

Note to self: Package all mirrors in your apartment and send them to EA... save yourself the effort of avoiding them! *S*

I like this very much, my friend... and you are indeed a woman of such fine substance... with an inner beauty that can't be denied... mirrors or no. *S*

In inner reflection, the truest mirror we find. You have found it.

Linda I too see the same in my ole reflection, but it sure takes time to get there doesn't it?  Nicely done, and I love the art you chose.  I had written one on the dark side about the same thing in 2001 called the Mirror, but I sure see something different now.

What can I add that those before me hadn't already said.
Enjoyed the read.

What a great attitude to take...especially to look for the good in oneself, which truly enables a return blessing.  This poem is especially lovely, because a woman is so much more than the sum of her parts!

Of the finest substance, Linda!  My bookshelf is about to break from all your inspirational poetry!  This one has special meaning to me, as I looked in the mirror this week, and it was the FIRST time I that I began to appreciate graying hairs.  I have earned them and those gentle wrinkles through much love and a lot of pain, and am growing with them.

LOve your poem and artwork.  The portrait is so you, as well!

love and hugs,
misce

Youth is fleeting, but inner-beauty lasts forever.

I enjoyed reading this... It is quite obvious, you have a self-esteem that cannot be taught. Well done!

"I walk not away from mirrors
For in them I do see,"

No mirrors in my house.  Funny when I think about it.

Interesting thoughts here.  Thanks!
