One warm summer night, I walked through the street
A tired old man, I happened to meet
Brittle he was, Now moving a little slow
Still sharp as tack, and asked "Do you know"

My attention was drawn and I sat on the curb
I listened intently as he slurred every verb.
Discussing his memories and trials in his life
And how he held up his sweet loving wife

The story began with a pull at my heart
As he spoke of their life, they were never apart
As I continued to listen, to every word he had said
I could feel every thought, envisioned in my head

He said "my beautiful angel, we met on the walk,
She bumped into me and we started to talk
She was captivating, Enchanting and I knew right then
My heart was on fire, As my mind began to spin

The next thing I knew, we were deeply in love,
Walked down the aisle, God witnessed above.
From that day forward, my life was true bliss
Lived each day for each other, And sealed it with a kiss

Then one day a sickness took us by surprise
I held on so tight, but her spirit did rise
I know now as I did in the past
Our love has endured, And the memories last"

As he finished the words, he fell off to sleep
His frail, lifeless body fell into the deep
I'll never forget his words to inspire
Love is a gift, With a never ending Fire

Only at night you can see the depth of the sun

'Love is a gift, With a never ending Fire'
