Out Making Anticlines

crossing monday

they don’t make enough coffee
and the kind with a straw in it
all the sweet and lactose

trying to say morning is all right
or that damned french black
with chickory on its breath

now there’s a scene
me siting there like samson
on the morning after

while you pretend you
had no idea
even though you didn’t

oh it’s a pretty show
but every skit we do
has an armadillo in it

so galvanized by the thought
that somehow this time
he’ll come out of nowhere

surprise them all
make it all the way across
to the center line

Jamie...

this crossing
made a whole lot of sense
to me.

Thank you.

I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

I'm pretty sure,
I loved this.

There was just something about it
that stung.
Which worked perfectly.
I just loved it.

Hi Jamie!

"surprise them all

I caught some humor in this and also something sort of sad.  Anyway, I liked it, especially the armadillo...lucky chap!

nice write --
there "was" - a possum one time
in a blind curve, on the center line
lying dead
but another possum, smaller, alive
hovering about, close by
it's mate-perhaps-or a sibling
me blowing the horn,flickering headlights
nothing would drive it away
taking a chance,
I drove around it in the wrong lane
a blind curve
kerthump
I guess it could not survive the tragedy

I was completely lost in the pensive scene you'd set... then laughed out loud as the hapless armadillo made his entrance... I'm glad I wasn't in the process of drinking that coffee! LOL

This is fantastic!!

Oh I loved this one. Coffee is "food of the gods" and I loved...

Great write!
