In a state of limbo

0 posted 2006-02-07 03:36 PM

There’s a boy on the porch with nothing give,
All that he’s had’s been given up, he’s got no other reason to live,
Lifes curveballs hit him square on the head,
Penetrating his soul, keeping him alive wondering
And yet the memories render him emotionally dead.

There’s a girl on the balcony with tears in her eyes,
Love has failed her, all that’s left is for her to cry,
Her man has left her hanging by a thread, she has given up on trying
She lusts for her peace of mind, her soul has died.

There’s a man on the corner begging for a change,
He’s living on the border between his madness and his grief,
He left his family, his wife, and his kids,
To live the life of a free man, a revolutionary, this is what he did:
He packed his bags, hit the road, left his home, and wandered all alone,
He searched and searched for something entirely unclear,
Peace of mind is what he lusted after, but it appears
He is lost, forgot his principles, and now he rolls like a stone.

There’s a woman in her home, she wants her husband back,
The pain hits her heart like the bullet which she lacks,
She wonder’s where he’s gone, he left so suddenly,
Everyday she waits by the door, brooding sullenly.

There’s an old man in the morgue, they said his liver has failed,
Broken by the toxins which society forced him to inhale,
They say he his name was Joe, yeah, Joe was his name,
He preached on the same corner day after day,
Some say he ranted, some say he squealed, some say he laughed,
and some say he kneeled, some say he was a visionary, others a lunatic, others a criminal, others called him a prophet, we should have listened to him.
Well it is done now, the man has died, let us give him a proper burial, and go on with our lives…

There’s an elderly woman, lying in her bed, she is dying of heart failure and this is what she said:

“I lived my life waiting for the inevitable, and when the inevitable hit me, it struck me with a parable, that life can pass us by and than we grow old, so let us be wiser and catch life like a cold.”

What an incredibly vivid life study, and I very much enjoyed your view.

I can personally relate to this poem... as it is of the same mold of one of my own. I figured Mysteria would reply to this, as this is right up her alley, too.

Well done and enjoyed!

you have shown vivid instances of depression and then shown that we still should have hope and embrace life
