I'm heading for the hills in my Jeep CJ
Up Horsemill Hollow early in the day.
It's been raining most of the night
But I'm in my Jeep, so that's alright.

I'm still on paved road, but not for long
Listening to the radio play a country song.
Fog is a creeping up through the trees
The sound of the creek is like music to me.

I've been on dirt road now for a little while
I passed the last house back about a half a mile.
I guess it's time to put my Jeep in low
And up around the hill I now can go.

The next hill is rocky and steep
But I don't care, I'm in my Jeep.
Where others may turn around or stop
My Jeep goes on, right to the top.

On this January day it's a little bit cold.
The weeds and leaves are brown and gold.
The mountains and woods are full of sounds
And yet it's peaceful all around.

I guess I'll head off the mountain now
And then I'll be back in a little while.
For I am a mountaineer and the mountains my home
And in West Virginia I will always roam.

I guess you can tell I liked my Jeep when I had it.  I miss it but still go mountain riding, but now on an ATV.  Glad you enjoyed the ride.  Danny

Midnite and Martie:  I am glad you both enjoyed riding along.  Be glad to show you another  sometime; if only I still had my Jeep.

Danny~
Man o' man ... my kind of ride~
Wind in my face on the backroads... even made me think of 'shining' deer at night,
just to see how many we could spot~

Makes me long for a trip back to the mountains of North Carolina ... and a long horseback ride up the mountain .. been awhile since I've done that ... maybe when the Springtime arrives ... I'll just have to plan a trip!
