Between the Lines

Sometimes there are no words.
Instead the silent tears erupted
pouring down cheeks,
tissues trying to stop the flow
before anyone noticed.

I don't understand which words
preceded them, only that the softness
of the eulogy and being among
caring relatives of his, brought forth regret
of the past events that will lead
to not belonging anymore.

It rained today in many ways,
and I don't think he noticed or
realized my tears as he stood next to me
singing Amazing Grace.
I could recall every word
to every hymn though it has been years
since we were together for a service.

Memories well up easily, all of them good.
All of them to touch me in places
where he no longer does.

M

Great feeling in this that is often prevalent after two separate, that is for sure.  I think women truly do love part of someone forever with their hearts, even though their head says sometimes to just, "get out of Dodge."  I liked this one a lot Maureen.

I am not sure who the last "he" refers to, the person next to you (my first guess) or the deceased (or perhaps the two were the same, metaphorically/spiritually).

Tears, hugs, courage, strength and rainbows.
