I am grateful that you do!

"People are talkin', talkin' 'bout people,
I hear them whisper, you won't believe it.
They think we're lovers kept under cover,
I just ignore it but they keep sayin' we...
Laugh just a little too loud,
Stand just a little too close,
We stare just a little too long.
Maybe they're seein', somethin' we don't darlin'.

Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about
(Somethin' to talk about)"

Actually, I suspect Charly and I both just happened to watch the State of the Union Address...

Now everybody to the left of the monitor, stand and applaud if you like this poem. Everybody to the right, you may remain seated but a smattering of polite applause is still deemed etiquette. If EVERYBODY stands and applauds, by golly Charly, you just written a bipartisan poem...

Bees sting...and while they're a nuisance, they only do damage if we're allergic. Having been stung a few times myself, I'd say the honey's worth it.

I appreciate a poem that, as I read it, leaves me certain it was written by a man, and one who isn't afraid to touch the deep things. Too many of us are shy of doing that, or of talking about it when we have...I'm glad you're not.

Actually, my comment....which probably started the "talk"....was meant from a purely philosophical viewpoint, as I gleaned two distinct viewpoints on a similar topic and both involve some indepth study (plus wisdom and experience) to have evolved to the point they have in their communication through poetry.  Both poets, though, quite different, in my view share a deep conviction that human beings are capable of much better than they demonstrate, I believe, however different they both chose to express this -- that was pretty much what I meant by my comment.  Apologies to any who didn't understand what I meant.

Ah, I see what you mean -- but I was commenting only on the poem. I like a masculine writing style, and icebox is as good an example of that as you'll find. I don't usually read the conversation thread that follows a poem, unless I'm really fat on leisure time, or I notice several of my friends commenting in succession.

and Ed? I just tease Charly 'cause I can.

I admire icebox very much.

I'd make him a religion if he'd let me.
