He waits, feeling the cold
beneath his fur.
Chewing grass agressively
as his hunter gets near.
He swallows knowing of
nothing else to do.
The painful noise of the wheels
roaring through the field.
He cowers, knowing it's his turn;
about to lose his identity
and everything he knows.
His master embraces him,
but he cannot prevent his fate.
The shears quickly cut away
at his fur with no emotion.
He's no longer a lamb.
He's one of many,
naked of all his being.
