Drunken children dancing like they should
Give a 5 year old 5 shots of vodka,
they'd act no different.

Drink to drain the memories?
or to bring them back.

I said some things last night,
but I wish you could have said more
I wish it brought freedom.

I'm hungover,
I like it.
I want to run into someone from the party
and giggle,
giggle guilty giggles
gloating giggles
saying to life
"I did it anyways."

So this is our form of murder
this is how we deal with life
it's the animal in us
that thrives on guilt

Human instinct is human instinct is animal instinct

The biggest denial of them all
to think there's a difference
guilty gloating giggles

I loved those lines, and that sentiment Chelsea. Fantastic poem!!

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

From your older posts there is a significant difference, but that is to be expected right? They become more pesimestic and cynical, in my opinion. Not to mean it offensively I just think that somewhere along the line of the older posts to this one there was a bit of giving up. It is supurb writing still though, I agree that in a sence we are killing ourselves by the way we act in socity today.

So this is our form of murder
this is how we deal with life
it's the animal in us
that thrives on guilt

But that is human life for you, always distancing ourselves from the nature of things to define humanity. But all along the further we go the closer we become to our 'animal instincts'. The cynic knows that all people enjoy pleasure and repel pain.
