JuJu's Challenge..Weighted Down

Anxiety built up over the years
denying me a place in society.
There were days when the passage of time
was all I could ask for...

No one walks in my footsteps,
although she tried to,
but the cloud that hung over me
covered her too,
until she was weighted down
with the doubts
that I passed on to her.

And I smiled a smile of knowing
because she put me there along with him
in that empty place
and now I was doing the same to her
because as you know...
"the grass is not greener on the other side".
It just looks that way from a distance.

So I weaned myself
off of all those negative feelings,
brushed myself off from the crawling I had done,
stood tall, and without looking back
began the move needed
to secure a place, even if small,
in each of my tomorrows.

JuJu has a challenge about being afraid of everything and she wanted some postings on getting over the fears..without using certain words...an easy challenge for me since I lived this for the last few years.

Thank you so much and I loved your poem. I really appreciate this. It is time for me to move on and become truely free. It just takes alot of work. (:
