The crowd was massive,
Stretched across a nation,
Everyone was so unique,
That their voices sang,
So clear and distinct,
Everyone wanting to be
An “American Idol”.

The first deep in thought,
Rejected for their sincerity.
Second so abstract they
Were gone for insanity.
Third stood in a maze,
Was lost in a haze.
Fourth was a teacher,
Who could not conform.
Fifth was a preacher,
Believing in diversity.
Sixth a union worker
That was brain washed.
Seventh was a farmer,
Too much home schooling.
Eighth was a good mother,
Needed to nurse humanity.
Ninth was a liberal, well
That says it all, too free!
Tenth a cloned politician,
Kept repeating themselves.

On and on it revolved itself,
Snaking on American dreams
Most to be rejected ‘At Will’,
Disappearing “Without a Trace”,
“Dancing With The Stars”,
“Cold Cases” on “CSI” graves,
Upon “Extreme Makovers”,
Upon “Desperate Housewifes”,
Others ghosts of “Grey’s Anatomy”,
All “Lost” in America.

Some had fraternity tickets.
They had to show no talent.
They were escorted forward.
Yet everyone wanted to speak
Out in their independence.
But their were only a few
Allowed entry into this show,
Of this exclusive country club act,
For it was the ‘Gang of Eight Show’.

They were here to Judge America,
Monitoring its voice for obscene talent,
Filtering dissenting free speech.
They were the new power brokers
Of their Freedom and Democracy,
Having no need for an audience.
Being liberal with a Constitution,
They impeached the words in it.
Hoodlums some now say in private.
Because of a electronic government.
Whose domestic executive ears has
No Congress of checks and balances.
For their leader is now Supreme Judge.

So, those American Idols take heart,
Live may be ticketed against you.
But maybe someone will invite
American audiences to a new version
Of a made in America “Gong Show”.
Where Americans have a chance to
Ask our politicians private questions.
They must answer upon pure truth,
Or be gonged for lying to America.
For we must ‘walk the talk’ of trust.

Note: The names between the quote marks are of TV shows. As I was searching for the American Idol name, the others seemed to fit in, for most Americans are seeking something on a screen, or in their mind. America is after all about dreaming, about being heard as a unique individual, for as a follower, you will never have your own stage. Most people cannot take pride on reciting another’s words, unless they offer some of their own. Just think what America’s sound would be like, with only eight people in its choir. But might they try to silence you into submission, termination, and subjugation. The Constitution needs its checks and balances. We need a commission for the “Bill of Rights” joined by a judiciary, legislative, and executive branch of government. Along with it, we should have a collegiate, business, worker, religious, and a independent voice representation, protecting US from governmental bureaucracy and totalitarianism.

I know by offering a free mind, I put my poetry at risk, but I already have been terminated for writing poetry, I cannot and will not be terminated as an America, without the right of free speech. To conform is to wilt and die, having said nothing worthwhile. It is from those of independent character that true heroes are born be our own American Idols. They sing their way down the street as Martin Luther King, Irving Berlin, Norman Rockwell, Robert Frost, others, so much artistic talent, within their open minds. So walk the talk down the street, maybe other may join in the harmony of communication.
