perhaps a winter morning
with an elfish sun playing
in his shadow ponds

making diamonds for the girls
that dress up as clouds
and lean over his bowl

to see their own laughing eyes

I day dreamed in leather dawn
of this velvet room of marble
where the cold is even softer

than the edges of your whiskey
when you wear it as lipstick
and tell me it is my color

and yes I would drink too much

if the pressure of the illusion
were gifted as an invitation
to take my breath away momentarily

and you would wonder of my hands
when the ink was at the windows
if they warm to the touch

or would the frozen stones notice
_____________
daark

I'd bet on the warm!
