When Kings Dream

When Kings dream
sometimes they fill the air
with the breath of equality

marching forward
in spite of the difficulties
in spite of the insults
in spite of all the obstacles placed
in their pathway

If we dream with Kings
then keep our eyes on the Dream

We shall overcome,
some day.

* RIP, Coretta

"If we dream with Kings..."

I loved this line, not to mention the entire poem.  It holds a message that is not only important to young adults, but to "old" adults as well- all of us need to hold fast to dreams and goals to achieve them.  Losing sight of them for one second could cause us to begin again, sometimes agonizingly.  Loved it, loved it.

Like a ship blown from it's mooringby a wind off the sea- I have been changed for good.

Well said Kacy..
May Coretta King rest in peace.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Oh. I have spent a great deal of the day with tears in my eyes. I often saw, heard and spoke with this beautiful soul in my youth. Miss Coretta will be sorely missed.

Katerie... you speak for me too. Well said.

Kacy, thank you.

Thank you for these warm replies.
She was a great role model, and will be missed by all who value Equality as a basic right.
Lady? how lucky you were, to have had a chance to speak with her personally! I saw her at a race unity meeting in Florida many years ago, but didn't get to speak with her. I was very impressed with her demeanor, her quiet dignified manner. She held her head high, but never in a haughty way.

That poem sent a shiver down my spine. Not the kind of shiver I get when watching the possessed clown scene in Steven Spielberg's Poltergeist; but rather the warm kind, like when I walk into a room with an uplifting quality about it, or when my unborn daughter swims over to whatever side of my wife's belly that my hand might be lightly resting against, as I lay there, not quite asleep.

Thanx for posting. That piece made my predawn.

Kacy, this is a fitting and wonderful tribute.  Thanks for putting it to pen.  The world is a sadder place losing her.
