What is the true meaning of freedom?
Does it translate from under your terms,
Mine, to dictate someone’s preset definition.
Must it be taught as conservative freedom,
Religious freedom, segregated freedom,
Limited freedom, corporate freedom,
Political freedom, Republican freedom,
Right or left wing freedom, liberal freedom.

Must its wings be clipped by conformity
That dictates its own employment terms,
Which spies as employers of home policies?
Must one have insurance from termination?
Does free speech LIE in another corporation
For most want to enter our homes as masters,
Using their creative accounting of our lives,
Telling us what to eat, drink, what positions!

Do you remember when a home was a castle?
Never to be invaded by domestic spying programs.
Now the government’s patriotism is so electronic.
Executive privileged parenting war of Democracy.
Who is the real enemy of our blessed Constitution?
Telling US what international laws it will abide by.
Imprison others without trails, those secret jails,
For the gang of eight hoodlums, are now America!

They say they are patriots to their own cause by
Guarantying our freedom with their intelligence.
Yet human intelligence has failed our White House
Congress shame on you! Can we please lobby you?
Your pork is squealing from those five star lunches,
Those expensive suits with yellow religious ties.
But Sirs, my religious freedom does not need ties,
Nor lies, but truth, respect, honesty of true character.

Constitutional words are not of creative accounting.
Wealth come from the heart first and fore most.
So, these words need to be filtered by politicians.
It is like the government censoring and fining TV,
Then to omit themselves of their colorful language.
Should they as our legislative executive parents,
Put a dollar in the obscenity jar of US government?
I am sure it would go a long way to deficit spending!

Now free speech poets are banned in their White House.
Come upon April’s Poetry Month, it will again fall mute,
But Mr. President show your diversity, by having
Conservative poetry, it is better than nothing at all!
You can ticket the event and pre-select the verse,
They can wear your uniform-ity of free expression.
You can have a open mic night with your friends,
Who pray homage to your green-blooded heritage.

Poverty of my liberal words of the American streets,
Will it be denied entry, so I guess one must have a wall.
Where the diverse minds can reach across Washington,
To reclaim its unique voice of creative originality,
We could call it a Free Speech Festival, inviting all.
Even those with magic markers of masked conformity
Each city could send a partition to the Poetic Wall,
People could dance, think, enjoying poetic Freedom.

Yes, American freedom has its own vocabulary.
One could wish to write within its unique refrain,
But liberty might be too close to that nasty L word.
Yet, some are very (L)iberal with our Constitution,
Using their unwarranted domestic spying programs
To impeach the meaning of our Constitution,
From their rights as true saviors, aborting the masses,
For America, I guess, has two standards of Freedom.

Note: Ranting comments at http://authorsden.com/visit/viewblog.asp?authorid=5012 Please use free speech.

your scope of such a topic is wide indeed friend Lester and much fodder for thought indeed for him.....
sometimes there is a 'tug of war' on the word itself depending on what 'camp' you happen to reside in...
for like anything else... freedom means many thangs to many people

praises to your pen

Bagger Vance, in communication we grow as a united nation, in fear we divide in it.  That is why people try to silence it, to control their agendas, but with questioning for truthful answer, we fight for the true meaning of Freedom, and protect our Constitution. For truth moderates together as a United States within its great diversity.

I honor you for having your opinion and expressing it so well, as fresh air thoughts.
