Her thoughts toyed with justification
as her fingers slipped forward
disappearing into the darkness.
A quick recoil from expected injury
was pleasurably surprised
to find fingers intact.

Titillated by the temptation,
the darkness compelled a second
and then third encounter;
the lure of unseen activities
ached beyond rationality.

When she snuck completely in,
deep under the cover of
self deception, she envisaged
that not even the darkness
could see her.

And though she fancied otherwise
and even grew to find a comfort
in not knowing, she was
thoroughly blinded by the dark
and now utterly lost.

The Way hung redemption
on the cross, held high
the lamp of Truth, and waited
for her
to turn around.

You depict the ways we deceive ourselves so well... and the way the Truth is always there waiting... Beautiful work!

aye....

i am reminded of the 'war of the roses' not so much per content but the fact that this poet felt the 'war within' as the sweetness of dark coaxed and pulled

felt this
