a breeze teases my senses with warm salty air
then I know the sea is speaking
assembling stories of sailors’ lost
children’s sandcastles and misty morning walks

lying scantly on the patio
the seagulls address myths from times of Greece
hoping that the pelicans will soon understand
during their continuous hunting expedition

looking down from pitted beams
fathers skipping work gaze wondrously
as their newborns coo for attention
sitting on the sand underneath the gauze of mothers skirt

waiting for the tide to challenge the moon
and gathering sand dollars in tiny fingers
while I live these moments in my eyes
wondering why the sea has taken my youth
leaving this lady alone

by the ocean

It's a beautiful piece of poetry, but I'm a lousy 'guesser' ... doesn't mean you didn't write it well ... just means that I'm a lousy guesser~

But ... gonna kick it back to the top
for some more folks to take a looksee at it~

Well, now it is going to look as tho' I got the idea it was The Lady from reading the replies! In actuality, I honestly did think it was The Lady when I read this exquisitely picturesque piece of writing.

Thoroughly enjoyed ~ and very well done!

Hugs to each of you!

Then I made up my mind to 'figger it out' ... ah, it came to me ...~

The piece is lovely and you definitely captured the ink of The Lady's quill~
