From infancy to date
striving;
Your spirit reaching; mine
birthed contrary.

A love to touch, to heal, to treasure
patiently waited for me to stop
straining ever outward-bound
searching for the match
to the kiss that is me.

Eventually ardor turned
to ashes and even dreaming
had to be forsaken.
Forward was empty, inward, with no
desirable destination.
Backwards was littered by fires
previously exhausted.

But love never departed despite
assertions of abandon.
Watching from above
for the precise moment of penitence
and realized need;
with open arms, Love
welcomed me.

Lord let my yearning be
ever higher, my adoration worthy
and my life humbly be
a kiss toward
You
