Listening to every heart

Humble, these Findings

When will it settle in, this new?

Some day far from now, perhaps,

as when I was a bride,
and it didn’t settle in,
until the births,
which didn’t settle in,
until I was divorced;

which didn’t settle in, until
I was remarried,

which didn’t settle in, until
the personal deaths began.

I lost folk before then, but it was different,
these knowings…

Life…life is like this, some times
this holding of breath,
this beating of a heart in hands,
someone keeping these dreams alive,

someone trusting in my mind more
than I trust myself.

Some one special one asked

what does it feel like?

The feeling of this new birth,
from an old love,
some one thought that had
planted its seed long, long ago,

to finally find its own birth,
to realize its own dream

in the skies of eyes that
skimmed the horizon such
as I….

a kindred of nature alone,
it was then the pause began, to find
somewhere deep, a reply to be
understood….

it hasn’t settled in, yet.

When it does,
only I will know
what loss it might have brought,

for that is the way
it is.

And when it does you will write a poem about it....for that is the way
you are!

In the morning, hung over and sworn-off Haaker Pshorr Weiss for life.....but ooh-baby-come-October, we'll only remember that Oom-Pah band!

So....come October, when it settles in (whenever October may be for this), I want to see that poem too!

Believe? Oh yes, you bet -- it's always October for that.

The depths of this kind of sneak up and grab you in the end.  That is so very true...that is the way of life...and SIL, you have said things here so well.   ...jo

Mellon Collie to be sure, but it ain't no dog of a poem.  It sort of touches us all don't it?
So just how many shoes will fall in a lifetime?

Ah the price of wisdom - much pain. I'm sure I have only begun to learn. And you, well how delightful is your sharing of your learning.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Awwwww. Yes, it does take time, but perhaps it never settles in, truly... But I suppose we may never so I say take life one day at a time, eh?

Nice write.

Life and transitions--always confusing.  I think that it was Thomas Merton who said, "Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved."  I badly needed that bit of insight when I came across it.  It is one of my favorite quotes.  It seems that there are always more questions than answers and I am so aware of the answers coming...much, much later, with slowly growing, knowing clarity.

You have said it so well.  Made me think.

Love You Much!

You just crept into my head and yanked out my heart because oh man, do I know this and am keeping it because it reads like a life prayer to me, Kari.

No, we never know at the time, do we?

That will always puzzle me.

It does humble one, doesn't it? *S* This is excellent, Sunshiney One... In reading the responses, I see how it's touched so many... we choose different passages... but we all walk away glad we stopped to read...

Sunshine, this is what I needed to read today. It speaks to me. Your courage to face your life changing events is an inspiration. May they all settle gently in. :-)
