Swollen faces
battered and bruised,
damaged souls
left abused.
Wide eyed children
asking why.
"Why did daddy
make me cry? "

Tears endlessly rolling
down their cheeks,
pain that can't
be forgotten
with the passing of weeks.

"It hurts so bad
can't you see?
Can't you see
what you're doing to me? "

Their little faces,
wretched in pain.
Please God,
let them smile again.
Help the battered
the meek and mild,
let them know love,
this innocent child.

And to those who would
commit such a crime,
put them in jail
to do their time.

Then throw away the KEYS

PLEASE.......

seek the flame within yourself
and let your soul be cleansed by
the fire of love.  Axel Ekenstierna

Gentle Spirit, a beautiful plea written so simply and purely as though by a child.  May your prayer be heard and thank you for your words.  It is so good to find the good, and the good is in you, and you are in the good.

oh,throw away those keys!
that's what I've said so many times, only to see them walk away to do it again, because they had a little bit of counseling or maybe did a few days or months in lockup.

Heartfelt penned, a very well expressed poem and it's a shame that it still happens all over the world. Me agree with you, throw away the key

I'll never understand how children can be preyed upon.  Where's the self-respect?  It's a different world, I know, but how could worlds be so far apart?   I'll never understand, so I'll just add my prayers.  Just last week, the school counselor and I were discussing two sisters that possibly are being physically abused.  No evidence, but there's obviously something going on that needs investigation.  A very sobering situation.  Excellent write, Gentle Spirit.

A beautiful yet sad poem that I fully agree with.  Anyone who could hurt a child or anybody for that matter should be locked behind bars for the rest of their lives with the keys thrown away so nobody has the chance to change their minds.  I hope you have peace in your life and I agree with your plea, but will turn it into my prayer.  Very well written and thought out.  I really liked this poem - it gave me chills.

I always wondered what I had done to deserve this yet again.  it wasn't until I was older that understood that it is a sickness, an evil that lives within them.  It wasn't my doing, but their choice.  As sad as it is to this goes on, it good to know that we are not alone.  Thanks

Those who beat children;
those who rape...

yes, the keys should be thrown far, far away.

A difficult write here Donna, handled with skill and gentleness, keys should be thrown, far away to their new cells in hell.
