I remember, the time you told me,
That love was never letting go-
sure we might have been a distance apart
with someone else at our side,
Or you my love, you were the one that had the other-
I never was able to commit myself to another
because you told me love was never letting go.

When can I say, It’s time to move on,
Even though dreams of you-
are like that of the sands
you rain through my fingers and thoughts,
I saw us as the snow upon the ground-
beautiful, but frail as we all are
least the snow came back for me.

I remember, the time you told me,
That love was never letting go-
when did you begin to hold on?
and my heart still wants you,
But I say now after all this time-
that love has got to let go
and find another to be mine.

Your words speak so softly. Your pen must be a feathered quill.

Such a bitter-sweet write.
Nicely penned Lee and much enjoyed.

Written with such exquisite sensitivity.  I love the 2nd stanza the most, especially:

"you rain through my fingers and thoughts,
I saw us as the snow upon the ground"

-oooh, magical!

Yes, you are right.  It is time to move on.  Keep the best of the past to fashion you into the best you can be in the present, so that the future will bring you the best it can.

It is good to take time to know.  Search and you will find one who will be prepared to wait, but don't keep her in the dark about your thoughts in the meantime, perhaps that is more the problem than the waiting.  Let her know why you are happy in the moment, and if she is worth her salt, she will enjoy the walk with you.

Like the others have said, magical and sensitive.  You are a great poet.  Keep writing.

Like a ship blown from it's mooringby a wind off the sea- I have been changed for good.
