Forever In Your Heart

Naked, bare, without skin,
souless eyes, bruised soul,
I stand with tortured mind,
deciding which way to go,

The path I have chosen,
has sealed my fate,
eating death for dinner,
turning back, it's too late,

Far away my feet did tread,
another Alice in her hole,
no pill to make it better,
only sympathy for her soul,

So now I stand, in my Eden,
Sour taste of apple sweet,
reaping what was sewn,
feeling the agony of defeat,

Knowledge is power to gain,
lessons I am still learning,
mistakes are wisdom earned,,
candles of remorse I'm burning,

Experiance was her name,
so many test, I've failed,
keep trying, I will,
showering off the shame,

Onward, a souls light I see,
reflecting in the dark,
shinning hope inside of me,
another chance to leave my mark,

At the crossroads I arrive,
wisely I make my choice,
another chance to survive,
my heart sings, rejoice,

The rocky, narrow path,
with thorns, bushes and weeds,
a long and winding road,
full of love and good deeds,

When you come to the crossroads,
choose the path less taken,
Robert Frost said it best,
he knew what he was saying,

Either path chosen,
has it consequences,
One right, one wrong,
which one will you take?

When you arrive at the crossroads?
will you be real? or fake?

Powerful and strong..a real thought provoking poem, requiring serious inner observations....but at a cross roads you could go in four directions...each one is fraught with the same dilemas....but you made me think..and that is important..thank you for these words of wisdom..

Yes, That is what I wanted to do, make you think, I always narrow it down to two choices, and between the two is where it gets hard...

Thank you Phil xxxx

Interesting write. My problem seems to be that I often see the life pathway going six directions. The usual NSEW, and Heaven/Hell, which I don't really believe in, but somehow they crop up like proverbial weeds anyway. LOL

Great write, AHR.  I like the way the road turns in to optimism.   ...jo

Another neat write.  If you're going to rhyme, keep it consistent, if not with very few exceptions.  Put a period at the end of each stanza, as your commas a slightly overused.  The questions seem a little out of place, and your words are ambiguous in places, but still, nice work.

I personally feel this poem deserves a 10 for its wisdom alone.  The message is clearly seen and it very posative.

Wonderful images. Very good poem.

I believe at the crossroads each path leads to the same place but taking the path least walked opens up greater experience

We can never see far enough ahead, at any crossroad. Both paths fade away in the mists of  future time. In retrospect, each path may see firm, and fixed, but really, they are both just as dynamic, fluid, in an ever-changing state of flux. We may never know what the alternate may have brought...

I think Arthur Symons said it best:

"...(life is) a naked runner lost in a storm of spears...." (from 'In the Wood of Finvara')

Without crossroads, the life would be a book with the ending in the front.
