Sailor's Lament

April showers have brought to me
shimmering towers of self-doubt
so I go investigating into the sea
it's the treasure of you that I've found out

And I felt so down before
I was looking up at life from my shoes
and I've been hurt so bad before
now I'm starstruck on my luck
of finding you

May flowers surrounding me
lighting my hours of withdrawl
and I go instigating love for me
it's been a pleasure to meet you all

And I fell so far below
what I was looking for in my heart
and I've been hurting all I've known
now I'm awestruck on my luck
of finding a new start

June bugs come to bug me
pulling the rug out from under me
and I feel insulated in my whiskey
it's been my leisure to sulk silently

And I dealt with the hell
of looking for a little of myself in me
and I've been tearing down the sail
now it's harder to find safe harbor
or an island at sea

So it's a been a joy to find you
and bind myself to you
letting go of burning pain
and finding shelter from the rain
yeah I've starstruck on my luck
of finding you

July fireworks exploding
healing the hurts of the sea
and we're isolated from knowing
the pressures of the deep

I feel a tingle in this old heart
that leaves awestruck on my luck
of finding a brand new start

Love ahoy,
it's there for me, ol' Starbuck
so turn her towards that girl's loving arms
I think I've been starstruck...
I think I've been starstruck...

Very seasonal poem. It seemed to personify events if I read it coreectly. I have a few like this laying around some place in need of being typed up.

May the winds sweep through the moonless sky....

Excellent work... I lik the hopeful ending.

hi, I'm Karen.  You commented on my very first post here, and I've not seen  you post to return the favor, so I've looked you up!

You write well of the way so many of us hide from ourselves when we look for love, and sometimes settle for less than what we aspire to.

"And I fell so far below
what I was looking for in my heart"

But love is grand when it find us, for it never leaves us in the second hand space.  So trim your masts, Sailor.  There are many routes to the same port!

I liked this very much!

Lovestruck...what does that mean?  I've often wondered just what love really is.  I've journaled about it, thought about it, talked about it, but for everybody it is something different.  I hope you become unawestruck lol, and find your one true love so you can rest at ease with your love life or lack thereof.
