My morning broke
as I awoke to sunlight with screaming
in a room steeped in darkness with smells and tastes of gore
that seeped from every pore
as razor shards exploded from shattering illusions of a restful sleep.

It has been a while
since some mystic force of daily life
had spun the gain unnoticed
on dials of my recall
and blown apart the doors on any vault
tucked beneath sub-floors in the forbidden caverns of my mind.

I’ve never been one
to keep souvenirs,
and I don’t live in the past,
but I’ve learned some of my memories are panthers
lurking in the trees
that grow on fertile plains of all I know
waiting for my dreams to wander unsuspecting on the paths below.

May the predators that lurk beneath sub-floors in the forbidden caverns of your mind, be gone! Wand

Sleep sweet, Dear Box of Ice!

First, does Linda have a smilie for everything????

and second, *smile* I loved it as always...

sometimes I wish my life were the dreams and my dreams were my life...

You sir know how to be food for thought that is for sure, as some of my own panthers appeared having read this!

this reaches near perfection...this group of words is exquisite in order, simplicity and in conveyance:

"I’ve never been one
to keep souvenirs,
and I don’t live in the past,
but I’ve learned some of my memories are panthers
lurking in the trees
that grow on fertile plains of all I know
waiting for my dreams to wander unsuspecting on the paths below"

Know what you mean, Mr. C.  I wonder if that will always be the case or if there's a way around that...if you can catch the panthers creeping around...maybe you can surprise them!  Restful sleep...an illusion.  Just a thought... ...jo

Thank you all for the time it takes to read and to share your thoughts.  I appreciate it.

I think memories are important, even painful memories; without them there can be no real evolution of the soul.  We then would have to repeat the behavior in another lifetime.

Thanks, again!

I am grateful my dreams stay right where they belong:

forgotten.

The past?  My waking thought?

That's a little tougher to forget.
(agreeing with you there, though)

(hypnotism, does that work?)

*smile*
