Somewhere
Along the journey
It was passed

No drums beat
Or trumpets sounded
Generals did not pin on medals
For some nondescript bit of topography
That never the less brought a change

And there’s no going back
Of that it is certain  The toys
Boys and young men once played with
Stored in the attic or cast aside

The curtains on the windows
Will still remain open

Yet when someone new
Knocks on the door there is no answer

Because the answer
Is already known

It's not just boys and men these days...

We volunteer our time as well.
