In The Blink Of An Eye

Blink
Another second’s passed
A baby cries in pain
Another child is born in hate
While, yet, another’s slain

Blink
A family starves to death
A young man dies of Aids
Ten others fall, victims of war,
Destroyed by hand grenades

Blink
A single gun shot sounds
Then soon a hundred more
As gangs and drugs become the norm
Outside your own back door

Blink
Disease is rampant
Blink
All hope is lost
Blink
It’s money, power, control
No matter what the cost

Don’t Blink
Don’t close your eyes to this
Make a stand and raise your fist
And let your voice, your point, be heard
There’s power in the pen and word
The future’s crumble wholly lies
In those who blindly close their eyes
While war, defiance, greed, and hate
Join as one to seal our fate
All humankind could live or die
In just the blinking of an eye

Don’t Blink

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Sorry, I'm blinking, because I've been tearing up over an old movie with a new setting, of the same old stuff....and it continues to break my heart....

so excuse the blinking, they're just
tears of no excuse, and no answers....

hugging you....

Blink, blink, blink
And a caring nurse has helped to heal someone and comfort another who cannnot heal and reminded others in a poem to act so that there is less suffering in the world.

Would that we could not blink Ruth, but life is so short, and gone in just a blink of someone's eye.  I watched Clinton on t.v. last night and he is still my favorite, but he mentioned about us closing our eyes to the fact we are all children of one world and united through that bond.  Would if it could only be the cement to glue us together.

Oh sorry,   I loved this but you can surely tell right?

Reality is so sad, you have expressed this so well.... I am scared to blink, because life is too short.

Hi, Ruth!

Well, my dear, there certainly is power in YOUR pen and words ~ and I read ~ and heard them!

May your voice ring around the world.

BLINK ~ Mankind's that much closer to the brink!

Warm, welcome-back hugs,
Linda

Hard hitting, with no holding back, and that is exactly what is required. Sometimes we have to tell it how it is to get the desired response, you did that and the effect is tangible..enjoyed the sentiments..and your writing...thank you..
