If together we can grow old ~
We'll wear veiled flowered hats
and flowing dresses of chiffon
We'll take daily tea at four
in our garden of English grace
Reading passages from "Visions"
Velvet bookmarks save our place.

If together we should grow old ~
Debonair gentlemen friends
most likely will come to call
Evenings spent on our veranda
we'll be serving fine liqueur..
With crystal glasses clinking
midst laughter and grandeur.

So, if together we do grow old ~
Let's forget our age at times
We'll play "I spy" and hopscotch too
Yo-yo tricks and hula hoops
Make sundaes topped with sprinkles
Decorate our home in summertime
With coloured Christmas lights that twinkle.

Yes, together we will grow old ~
May it be gracefully...between giggles,
lost loves, heartaches, and healing hugs.
And, when the grand kids come tumbling in
We'll laugh, play "hide and seek" once more.
Hunt for seashells, snails and tiny treasures
Build sand castles..and...smile..just as before.

Growing old together, perhaps by the sea
Two sisters very blessed, and living happily ~

.

Ladies....I know together you are twice as lovely!  What a fun poem...makes me wish to be a sister too, so that I can play with you. (I can through a couple of grandaughters into the mixture) In other words, I loved this poem!

~ Sisterly love and aging gracefully together! An harmoniously scribed collaboration by two beautiful spirits.

I was smiling from the first line, "If together we can grow old" right to the closing line "Two sisters very blessed, and living happily".

So mote it be!

God bless you both!

This is a wonderful duet Tinker and Chris...full of images of genteel living and expressions of youthful pursuits.  Wonderful combining of talent and grace.

You two are such a terrific team of poets!  This is beautiful and I'm saving to send to my bestest girlfriend.  My sister will be reading it here and I hope she knows I'm sending that sentiment to her, too.  Much enjoyed the lovely, lovely verse.   ...jo

What more wonderful tribute to sisterly love could there be than this?  EXQUISITE!

Love this and will tuck it away gently.  Thank you for such gifting!  (I have so many of yours tucked away, but I think the duet is my favorite yet!)

I knew this would be good because of the talents involved... but what shines so clearly is the love... and that, dear ladies, is absolutely beautiful. *S* I already appreciate my sister... you make me do so more. *S*

Great piece of writing, and a gorgeous picture to start it off.  Hugs to both of you.  Ken

Nancy, growing old with a sister like you would make all the difference.  Again, your title is so fitting.  You have enchanted me again.  I'm guessing when you have a sister there is so much shared history and so much laughter.  I used to listen to my mother's sisters reminisce.  She had 5 of them. It was always a party!    My own daughters laughed together yesterday until tears ran down their cheeks.

Heart warming magic!  "squeeze"
