Reinvent the friend
reconstruct the bond
stretch the link
apparent discomfort
longing wastes away
college experience
dines at table for two

Friend spots for another body
the two year match withers
what was it that held company
who was the consort
no reason for permanence
always another star
heaven has plenty
shiny objects
detract attention
deter from constancy
of contented selves.

Friendship gone sour
blinded by wants
of contented selves
of need and distrust
unwilling portions
shared less and less
selfishness
reconstructed links burst
apparent discomfort
to live in the present
alone and friendless
ghost of longings
dine at tables for two.

Some vivid lines here Martin.
All too real for some. Well done.

Martin,

What insight into many lives here as you took me from the start to the end and back to the start again.

apparent discomfort
to live in the present

Have had to lose many myself because of that very reason.

You are always so truthful when you write.
Something to be proud of.
