He could be anywhere
stroking his beard
drinking his Red Zinger
oh I know I promised to follow him
but things came up
as things always do
I got a postcard from Denver
   sold the Harley
   bought two bikes
can’t wait for you to arrive
then a card from Vermont
    it’s bone crushing
   down and dirty cold here
need you to keep me warm
and a card from Sisters, Oregon
     when you get here
I will feed you Indian plums and boiled crab
     you will never leave
I still think about joining him
at times
I wonder
if he ever thinks
about waiting for me

Hey Lady!

I am a little late for welcoming you, but please forgive me and let me hang out a while.

I loved this poem. It's earthy and real, and oh-so-familiar.

I feel like I know this guy.

Much enjoyed.

hehe, I think I've seen him, with Red Zinger dripping from that beard flying down the open highway...
he will never park it

The things we think of doing that have a way of never quite happening....

This has a sense of wistfulness and adventure about it that I really like. Of course, it stirs the emotions, too, with a sense of the little things one knows about someone close to their heart, things that become more vivid simply because they are out of sight and missed.  I like this very much!

I met him once on the way to Sturgis.   He grinned the whole way and only stopped once...to pick a bug out of his teeth.  lol    Wonderful write!  Wonderful read!

Ah Klassy Lassy you read me so well.

I loved your response Uriah!   That was him all right!

Skyfire, if you see him tell him I’m sorry. Just couldn’t do it.

Thank you Paul, M and poetry_queen

he sounds like a man of adventure; I hope he doesn't waste a lifetime adventuring elsewhere when peace may be right at his doorstep!  Enjoyed your writing, Lady.

Lovely, Kate.  As Klassy Lady said, wistful.  Whether he is real or fiction, itt is probably best that you didn't join him and probably best that you did wonder about it.
