Blanc Verse
(little white antidepressant)
~~~~~~
Can’t put my finger on
the cause of such
strange feeling.
Can’t quite linger on it
long enough.
Too much change, reeling,
cart wheeling,
stealing focus.
The stuff
my shoe picks up
walking dusty roads,
musty attics,
rusty eye-beams.
It all seems just
out of reach,
so close-
wanting speech.
But, no hurry,
not to worry.
This daily dose,
this prescripted fix,
in time will blunt
the need to recall at all.
When it kicks in,
I can return to now,
feel the burn,
somehow bungeed up.
Freshly medicated
function regulated.
Until that hour comes,
between the waking
and when my morning shower
hums and whispers.
The rain of past simmers
on low heat-
It wants me, I know.
But if I’m fast enough
to swallow a tiny, white calm
before my mental feet
can stumble there----
Thank God!
Release. Chemical peace.
(mental note to self;
hell really is in the repetition,
the recitation,
life by rote).
~sigh~sometimes, that's what it takes to make it through the days and nights. Perhaps someday, a daily dose of meditation and poetry will suffice. But if not, those little Rx wonders are there for a reason.
Welcome back home, Constance!
Constance,
Anton Chehkov  once said that: “Any idiot can rise to a crisis.
It’s this day to day living that grinds you down.”
Somehow your poem reminded me of that.
Thanks to all of you for your comments, and for the welcome. I'm having trouble getting here as often as I'd like.
smiles,
