Once asked I was if I'd ever seen the rain
I answered Yes
for
It came in torrents upon my world
Turning gladstone into slabs of pain
this rain
Washed all the leaves off the trees
Gold, green, Red, all swept away from their high perch
Once They overlooked my earth
Now they lay lost and discarded
All that rain the rain left is a bare tree
that
Serves as a reminder of what once was

Questioned I was of this
The answer I gave...
The leaves were my feelings
The tree my heart
Bare and a mark of sorrow
reminding me of what once was
what the rain left me
of what once was
that no longer is

I really appreciate the comments.  This was actually my first real stab at writing a poem.  I'll be sure to contribute some more, both replies and new poems!!!
