of Depression

As the night deepens in gloom
I leave my reading in the other room
To enter in to the kitchen
Stirring, stirring and stirring
The gentle bubbling of my sauce still thin;
A reduction of flavors
When done that I might savor.

Can you truly see me?
What I am and not where I might be,
Does the heated glare that you have there
Come from misunderstanding
Seen from a life far too demanding,
From another room you’re standing
Trying to see my reduction in the pot
Trying to figure out what I’ve got,
Or not.

As the stirring and heat makes thick,
It’s just a bit of patience trick
Waiting for the time to go,
How long, I really don’t know,
But in its time the thickening will show,
And I’ll cook some noodles or rice,
And pour it over and it will be nice.

The gloom is full in the night,
Mists gather around the corner streetlight
Before the sun can raise the day
Burning the misty night away,
Some sauce I carefully put away,
Time made thick and flavorfully good,
A reward as patience always should;
Stirring, stirring and stirring;
Time well spent in waiting.

Gloom

Hi Professor!  A reduction huh?  They can end up mighty tasty.  The longer they reduce the better they are.  I can't see it from here, but it smells really good!!  Enjoyed your look at patience.

Time well spent in waiting.

Good advice~~ might cook something up for myself tonight to last for a day or two. I always think the second time around is even better.

Nice to read you, as always
