painting desert stripes on lanes of sand
beneath the steam-squelched sun
i came face to face with freedom’s chains
in a race i’d slowed to run

perceiving scorched the leaflets of my mind
when first i thought my essence freed
only to discover the bands of bondage
were attached to emancipation’s seed

with thought came not a liberty
as once i had conceived
but entangled me with responsibility...
as words expose… my thoughts recede

Hmmm...in pondering this, and thinking how strings of love/attachment can never really be broken, I am wondering if you would even choose  'freedom' from such bondage? An interesting write.

Life is never black and white as you have said here.  There are always strings attached to every dream.  Good write

think of this as the mind, with its convoluted patterns of thought...then take it from there (as it processes thoughts to words)...not nearly so noble as to be about life or love or lofty things...
